“We believe in doing business the way it used to be done — personally. Everything else should just take care of itself.”
Family One — The Baeseman Brothers (1933)
Baeseman’s began in 1933 as a humble army surplus shop on Clinton Street, perched along the river in Wausau. What started as a small storefront quickly grew into one of Central Wisconsin’s trusted destinations for durable, name-brand clothing and shoes. Eddie and Marvin Baeseman built their reputation on rugged quality and honest service — foundations strong enough to carry the business through nearly a century
Family Two — The Rossi Family (1972)
By 1972, the Baesemans were ready to retire when a young father named Larry Rossi walked through the doors looking for work. With seven children at home, he started by sweeping floors — but his natural gift for helping people quickly made him the heart of the store. The Baeseman brothers soon offered Larry and his wife, Joyce, the opportunity to take over, beginning a new chapter for Baeseman’s Shoes and Clothing. As their daughter Mary joined the business and their son Tom followed in 1976, the Rossi family carried Baeseman’s into the modern era. Mary retired in May 2025, leaving behind generations of loyal customers and a legacy of personal service.
Family Three — The Granger Family (2025)
Today, Baeseman’s enters its newest chapter under Gary and Andrea Granger and their son, Griffin. The Grangers continue to run the store the same way every generation before them has: personally, and treating customers like family. Their hands-on approach ensures every customer is cared for and every visit is memorable. The legacy lives on, one relationship at a time.
